We spent 9 days at this Burmese Refugee Camp, working with 9 Karen men to build a bamboo playground for the community’s children to gather, play, and experience joy together.

Building together was our chance to connect deeply with these people and to learn about why they were there and what they needed and wanted most. It was a resounding common desire across the camp.

Sovereignty.

We hope to return there one day to bridge our creativity with purpose and build together with the community, art installations that serve as vertical farms and provide internet and energy. Through this internet, we seek to create channels of communication and interaction between the people and the world. By bridging the worlds, we open the opportunity for cultural, economic and social exchange.

The MRM Burmese Refugee Camp is a camp of 11,000 people who have resided in rural Thailand for 30 years since their escape from Burma.
